BYBLIOS in Action – Portugal Highlights a New Digital Reading Experience

We’re proud to share a new milestone from our associated partners in Portugal, where CERCIGUI and the Municipality of Guimarães are actively contributing to the mission of the BYBLIOS project: transforming libraries into inclusive, empowering spaces for professional growth and digital learning.

A New Kind of Library Engagement

In a recent initiative shared on Facebook, José, a participant supported by CERCIGUI, engages in a digital reading activity—part of a series of inclusive learning experiences facilitated through the BYBLIOS framework.
This is more than just another reading session: it represents the courage to explore digital tools, the trust in those guiding the journey, and the importance of making space for new narratives of inclusion.

As the organizers highlight:

“Offering new experiences in the digital field makes us proud. It’s not easy—it takes courage and trust. José is an example of both.”

Why This Matters

The BYBLIOS project, with partners like Desincoop Cooperativa, is exploring how local and school libraries can become platforms for the professional inclusion of people with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities.
This initiative in Guimarães is a clear example of how digital innovation and inclusion go hand in hand, supporting not only learning but also self-confidence, autonomy, and visibility.

Supported by:

  • Municipality of Guimarães

  • CERCIGUI

  • Desincoop Cooperativa

  • RNBP (Rede Nacional de Bibliotecas Públicas)

Together, we are designing a future where inclusive libraries mean real opportunities for all.
