The National Conference on Generative and Inclusive School Libraries: A Milestone for BIBLIARS

On May 27, 2025, the city of Chieti hosted the second edition of the National Conference on Generative and Inclusive School Libraries, organized by BIBLIARS in collaboration with the Italian Library Association (AIB). This significant event brought together educators, librarians, and policymakers to discuss the evolving role of school libraries in fostering inclusive and innovative educational environments.

The morning sessions took place at the historic Teatro Marrucino, where representatives from selected schools across the Abruzzo region presented their successful library projects. Notably, the Istituto Comprensivo of Notaresco showcased their "Leggendo… Si cresce" initiative, emphasizing active and creative reading strategies across all school levels. Distinguished guests, such as Chieti's Mayor Diego Ferrara, MIUR's Education and Training Department Director Caterina Spezzano, and Regional Education Assessor Roberto Santangelo, underscored the importance of libraries in promoting literacy and inclusion. In the afternoon, the conference moved to the Convitto Nazionale "G.B. Vico," where roundtable discussions focused on best practices, digital communication, and strategies for managing and networking school libraries. These sessions provided a platform for sharing experiences and exploring new avenues for integrating libraries into the educational fabric.

The conference concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthening the network of school libraries, recognizing their pivotal role in creating inclusive learning spaces and fostering a lifelong love for reading.
