BYBLIOS Project: Insights from Librarian Surveys

As part of our commitment to transforming school libraries into inclusive spaces, the BYBLIOS project conducted comprehensive surveys among librarians across participating countries. Here's what we discovered:

Key Findings:

  • Evolving Roles: A significant number of librarians perceive their roles as evolving, with many rating this evolution between 5 and 7 on a 7-point scale.

  • Digital Competence: There's a recognized need for enhanced digital skills to meet the demands of modern library services.

  • Continuous Training: Librarians expressed a strong desire for ongoing professional development to adapt to changing roles and technologies.

  • Inclusive Employment: Many see the potential of libraries as platforms for the employment and integration of individuals with disabilities.

Perceived Benefits of Inclusive Practices:

  • Promotion of Diversity: Inclusive libraries are seen as catalysts for promoting diversity and breaking down societal stereotypes.

  • Enhanced Team Dynamics: Inclusion fosters greater empathy and awareness among staff, enriching the workplace environment.

  • Community Engagement: Libraries embracing inclusivity are better positioned to serve and reflect their diverse communities.

These insights are instrumental in guiding the BYBLIOS project's future initiatives, ensuring that libraries continue to evolve as inclusive, dynamic, and community-centered spaces.
